Korean Pomeranian Breeders

South Korea has become one of the best-known places for Pomeranian breeding, especially for the compact, round-faced teddy bear style. Here is what Korean breeding is known for, how we vet breeders there, and how a puppy gets from Korea to you.

Korean Pomeranian Breeders

What Korean Pomeranian breeding is known for

Pomeranians are among the most popular small breeds in South Korea, and breeders there have developed a recognizable style. In general terms, Korean lines are known for:

  • Compact, short-backed bodies
  • Round heads with full cheeks and a short muzzle
  • Small ears set well into a dense, stand-off coat
  • Light and classic colors, especially white, cream and orange, along with sables and partis

This is the look most people mean when they search for a teddy bear Pomeranian. It is a tendency, not a rule. Individual breeders and litters vary, and you will see moderate heads and larger frames in Korea too. Our guide to Korean versus American Pomeranians compares the styles side by side.

How we vet breeders in Korea

We keep our requirements clear and checkable, so you know exactly what you are getting. Every breeder in our Korean network must:

  1. Show puppies live. Every puppy is shown on a live WhatsApp video call, so you see the real dog, not an edited photo.
  2. Provide vaccination and vet records for each puppy.
  3. Microchip every puppy before it travels.
  4. Comply with your destination's import rules, including vaccination timing and paperwork.

If a breeder cannot meet these, their puppies are not offered through Pom Paradise.

How travel from South Korea works

A puppy from Korea makes a long journey, so it is planned carefully. In general terms, the route and method depend on the airline's live-animal policies, available flights to your city, the puppy's age and size, and the import requirements of the United States, Canada or Mexico. Some destinations set minimum ages for imported dogs, and vaccination timing affects when a puppy is eligible to travel. Those rules change, so we confirm the current requirements for your country before you commit. Our import rules page covers the basics.

Because of these timelines, a Korean puppy you meet on video may need to wait until it meets the requirements before it travels. We will be upfront about the expected timing.

Is a Korean Pomeranian right for you?

If you love a round, plush, compact Pom, Korean lines are a great place to look. Keep in mind that the smallest and shortest-muzzled puppies need extra care with meals, handling, teeth and breathing. Ask about the parents' adult weights and watch the puppy play on the call.

Questions worth asking a Korean breeder on video: What do the parents weigh as adults? Can I see the face from the side? How does the puppy breathe after playing? When will it be eligible to travel to my country?
