Teacup Pomeranian Puppies for Sale
Teacup is one of the most searched words next to Pomeranian, and one of the most misunderstood. Here is what it actually means, and how to choose a small puppy responsibly.

What teacup really means
There is no teacup Pomeranian breed and no official teacup size. The Pomeranian is already a toy breed, and breed standards generally describe adults in the range of roughly 3 to 7 pounds. "Teacup" is a marketing word used for puppies expected to finish at the very bottom of that range, or below it. Since nobody can promise an exact adult weight from an eight-week-old puppy, treat any teacup label as an estimate, not a guarantee.
What you can do is look at the facts: the puppy's current weight and age, the weight of both parents as adults, and how earlier puppies from the same pairing turned out. Our Pomeranian size and weight chart shows how to read those numbers.
The honest health picture
Very small Pomeranians can be wonderful companions, but size at the extreme end brings real considerations. Our teacup Pomeranian health guide covers them in detail. In short:
- Low blood sugar. Tiny puppies have small energy reserves and need frequent, regular meals. Missing meals, stress and cold can trigger hypoglycemia.
- Fragile bones. A jump from a sofa or being dropped can cause fractures. Ramps, steps and careful handling matter.
- Dental crowding. Small jaws often mean retained baby teeth and early dental disease.
- Knees and airways. Luxating patellas and tracheal sensitivity are seen in Pomeranians generally; a harness is better than a collar.
- Open fontanel. Some very small puppies have a soft spot on the skull that closes slowly or not at all.
Most of these are manageable with good care, but they are the reason we would rather match you with a healthy small puppy than chase the smallest number on the scale.
Who a very small Pomeranian suits
Adults-only homes or homes with older, gentle children, where someone is around to keep up with regular meals, tend to be the best fit. Busy households with toddlers or larger dogs can be risky for a dog that weighs about as much as a bag of sugar.

Frequently asked questions
Is a teacup Pomeranian a separate breed?
No. Teacup is a marketing term for Pomeranians expected to be at the very small end of the normal range. It is not a recognized breed or size category.
How big will a teacup Pomeranian get?
No one can guarantee an adult weight. The best estimate comes from the puppy's current weight and age plus the adult weights of both parents.
Are teacup Pomeranians unhealthy?
Not automatically, but very small dogs are more prone to low blood sugar, fractures and dental problems, so they need extra care.
