Beaver Pomeranian Puppies for Sale
Beaver Pomeranians wear a soft beige-brown coat, lighter and grayer than chocolate, with brown noses and eye rims. It is a rare, subtle color that tends to win people over in person.

What beaver is
Beaver is a brown-based color. Like chocolate, it comes from the recessive B locus gene that turns black pigment brown, so a beaver Pomeranian always has brown points: a brown or liver nose, lips, eye rims and paw pads. What sets beaver apart is the shade. The coat is a lighter, softer beige-brown, sometimes with a slightly silvery or taupe look.
You will see beaver described in different ways. Some breeders use it for any light, diluted-looking brown; others reserve it for a specific genetic combination. Registries and breeders do not always agree on exactly where beaver ends and dilute chocolate or lavender begins. If genetics matter to you, ask whether the parents have been color DNA tested.
How a beaver puppy's coat changes
Beaver puppies can be born looking darker, closer to chocolate, and lighten as the adult coat comes in. Others look quite pale as babies and warm up slightly. Brown coats are prone to sun fading, and the ends can take on a coppery tinge over summer. The puppy uglies phase can make the coat look patchy for a few months. Plan on the adult color settling between eighteen months and two years.
Coat and skin notes
If a beaver puppy's color involves the dilution gene, the same conservative note that applies to other dilute colors applies here: some dilute dogs develop thinning coat and dry skin (color dilution alopecia). Many never do. Asking about the parents' adult coats is the best way to get a sense of the line.
Grooming a beaver coat
- Brush gently two or three times a week down to the skin.
- Use a mild, moisturizing shampoo and avoid bathing too often.
- Limit long sunbathing sessions to slow fading.
- Wipe around the eyes daily; light brown coats can show some staining.
What to ask during the video call
- Ask to see the puppy in daylight next to something white and something brown. Beaver is very easy to misjudge under warm indoor lights.
- Ask for a close-up of the nose, eye rims and paw pads, which should be brown.
- Ask what both parents look like as adults and whether they have been color tested.
- Ask about the parents' coat and skin condition.
- Go through the vaccination records, vet check and microchip.
Finding a beaver Pomeranian
Beaver litters come from breeders who work with brown lines, so availability is limited. If this is your color, let us know when you book a call so we can check across our network.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between beaver and chocolate?
Both are brown-based with brown points. Beaver is a lighter, softer beige-brown, while chocolate is a deeper, richer brown.
Do beaver Pomeranians have brown noses?
Yes. Like all brown-based colors, beaver Pomeranians have brown or liver noses, lips, eye rims and paw pads.
Why is beaver hard to find?
It depends on recessive brown genes, and often dilution as well, from both parents, so only a small number of breeding pairs can produce it.
