Parti Pomeranian Puppies for Sale
A parti Pomeranian is a white dog with patches of another color, most often orange, black or cream. No two are marked alike, which is a big part of their charm.

What parti means
"Parti" is short for particolor. In Pomeranians it describes a mostly white coat with distinct patches of a second color. The pattern comes from the piebald gene on the S locus, which stops pigment from reaching certain areas of the coat. Any Pomeranian color can appear as the patches, so you will see orange parti, black parti, cream parti, sable parti and more.
The most sought-after partis have a symmetrical face, often a white blaze down the center with colored patches over both eyes and ears, and a few well-placed body patches. Plenty of wonderfully asymmetrical partis make great companions too. Markings are really a matter of taste.
How parti markings change
The layout of the patches is set at birth and does not move. What does change is the color within the patches and how crisp the edges look. Orange patches may darken or lighten as the adult coat grows in, and fluffy adult hair can make borders look softer. During the puppy uglies the white can look thin and the color patches uneven. The adult look usually settles in the second year.
A note on health
Most parti Pomeranians have well-pigmented noses and eye rims and no special health concerns related to their pattern. In many breeds, dogs with very extensive white, especially white covering both ears and the head, have a higher chance of hearing problems. Ask whether the breeder has noticed any hearing issues in the line, and watch on the video call how the puppy reacts to sounds behind it. Parti should not be confused with merle; if a puppy is marketed as a "merle parti," read our merle page before deciding.
Grooming a parti coat
The white areas need the same attention as a white Pomeranian, especially around the eyes and mouth:
- Wipe tear stains daily on white facial areas.
- Brush two or three times a week down to the skin.
- Use a gentle shampoo and dry thoroughly to keep the white bright.
Questions for your video call
- Ask the breeder to turn the puppy slowly so you can see the markings on both sides and the back.
- Ask for a close-up of the face, nose and eye rims to check pigment.
- Ask about the parents' colors and whether either is merle.
- Ask about hearing, and watch the puppy react to a clap or squeaky toy off camera.
- Review vaccination records, vet check notes and the microchip.
Choosing a parti
If you want a Pomeranian with a look all its own, a parti is a great fit. Because markings are unique, a live video call is the best way to choose; photos rarely show both sides fairly. Related looks include tri-color, which adds tan points to a black and white parti.

Frequently asked questions
Do parti markings change as a puppy grows?
The placement of the patches stays the same, but the color within them can deepen or lighten, and borders often look softer once the adult coat comes in.
Are parti Pomeranians healthy?
Generally, yes. Dogs with a lot of white on the head and ears can have a higher chance of hearing problems in many breeds, so it is worth asking about hearing in the line.
Is a parti the same as a merle?
No. Parti is a white coat with solid colored patches. Merle is a mottled, marbled pattern caused by a different gene with its own health considerations.
What colors can a parti Pomeranian be?
Any Pomeranian color can form the patches. Orange, black, cream and sable partis are the ones most often seen.
