Toy Pomeranian Puppies for Sale

Every Pomeranian is a toy dog. The Pomeranian is classified in the toy group, so a toy Pomeranian is simply a Pomeranian bred to the breed's normal small size.

Toy is the Pomeranian's natural size

You will see listings for "toy Pomeranians" as if they were a special type. In reality, the Pomeranian belongs to the toy group in kennel club classifications, alongside breeds like the Chihuahua and Yorkshire Terrier. Breed standards generally describe adults as roughly 3 to 7 pounds. A toy Pomeranian is a Pomeranian in that range: small enough to carry, big enough to be a sturdy, playful companion.

Many families find the middle of that range, around 4 to 7 pounds, the most comfortable to live with. These dogs are still tiny, but they are less fragile than the smallest puppies sold as "teacup." Our size and weight chart shows typical growth by age.

Temperament in a small package

Pomeranians descend from larger spitz sled dogs, and it shows. They are alert, curious and confident, often more so than their size suggests. Most are affectionate with their people, quick to learn and happy to do tricks for a reward. They can also be vocal. A Pom will tell you about every delivery truck unless you teach a quiet cue early.

  • Exercise: short daily walks and indoor play are usually enough.
  • Training: they respond well to short, positive sessions. House training takes patience with small bladders.
  • Socialization: early, gentle exposure to people, sounds and other dogs builds a confident adult.

Caring for a toy Pomeranian

The double coat needs brushing two or three times a week down to the skin. Small mouths benefit from regular tooth brushing. Use a harness instead of a collar to protect the trachea, and teach your puppy to use steps rather than jumping off furniture. Expect the coat to look thin during the puppy uglies between about four and ten months; it grows back fuller.

How we show toy Pomeranian puppies

Questions to bring to the call

  1. How old is the puppy and what does it weigh today?
  2. What do the parents weigh as adults?
  3. How does the puppy react to new people and sounds?
  4. Can you show the vaccination record and vet check?
